Meet Jim

Jim is our rescue's mascot. Jim is a permanent rescue horse in the Sanctuary. He was rescued on September 10th, 2005. His previous owners neglected caring for his teeth and were not even feeding him. He is approximately 30-years old, stands 16 hands tall and was grossly underweight at only 800 pounds.

As you can see, Jim has made a lot of improvement. He had to have his last three remaining teeth

removed so that his food would not fall from his mouth. Ande now makes mush for Jim to eat by soaking his

feed everyday. He is now up to 1100 pounds! Ande saw the hope that Jim had left and even though she realized

that there was a chance he would drop dead the day after she bought him she could not allow him to be stomped

to death on a truck on his way to be slaughtered. Jim is a very sweet horse. He gets fed three times a day. He has

special senior feed and he eats one 50lb bag in just two and a half days. We depend solely on tax deductible

donations to fund this rescue. If you are interested in helping sponsor Jim and other equines, we would greatly

appreciate any donations. Even just one dollar can make a difference. We use the money donated to purchase

feed, medications and to pay for farrier and veterinarian services for the horses. If you want to help our horses

you can mail us a check, written to HITVERAS or, soon you'll be able to donate easily online.
